About Me

I’m a journalist and documentary film producer based in Brooklyn. I’ve recently worked as a writer and producer on Hulu’s “Fyre Fraud” and The Paramount Network’s “Rest in Power: The Trayvon Martin Story.” From 2013 to 2017, I covered public health and criminal justice for NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune in New Orleans. Prior to that I was the head culture writer for Capital New York (now Politico New York) and a contributing writer for The New York Times. My work has also appeared in BuzzFeed, Slate, The Wall Street Journal, Fast Company, Outside, Vice, Salon, Mental Floss, The Village Voice and other outlets.

I’ve won awards from the Society for Features Journalism, the Associated Press Media Editors, the Louisiana Press Association, the Press Club of New Orleans, and the Southern Pain Society. My 2017 investigation into medical costs in New Orleans, in partnership with Clear Health Costs and WVUE Fox 8 News, received a National Edward R. Murrow Award and was nominated for a Peabody Award. For my coverage of the opioid epidemic in Louisiana, I was awarded fellowships from the National Press Foundation and Images & Voices of Hope.  I’m currently at work on a docuseries about the opioid crisis for Netflix.
